Not that impressed

My wife and I travel a lot and have been fortunate to have stayed in some very nice resorts. This one just didn’t quite make it on our favorite list. The room we stayed in needed a complete makeover. We were on the all inclusive plan. The food was ok but you want something better than ok for what the plan cost. The service was spotty Sometimes it was very good and other times it was awful. One morning at the breakfast buffet we waited 20 minutes for coffee. The beach is another issue. We had stayed four nights at another resort on Antigua before arriving here The water was crystal clear at that beach The water here was quite sandy and the beach is very small. The pools are ok but nothing special. The grounds are pretty and very well kept There are some very good reviews posted , but outstanding was just not our experience on this trip.

A slice of heaven

A modern current resort experience sets Blue Waters apart from the rest of the Caribbean. After having a guest chef share his secrets and a mixologist share his ingredients list... my next party will be unique. We made treasured memories with our children each day and had magical sun sets every evening - Thanks Blue Waters you have made our time in the Caribbean unforgettable!

A week in paradise

Having just returned from a weeks stay at Blue Waters I’m already planning to return! This resort is wonderful from the staff who are eager to please, the exceptional quality of the food, the wonderfully manicured gardens to the beautiful sea views as you enjoy the relaxing Caribbean vibe with a cocktail. Check in was swift, which is perfect after a long flight and couldn’t be faulted. Gina from concierge walked us to our room, providing a brief tour on the way, through the most beautifully manicured gardens. The rooms have beautiful views and are spaced out well across the grounds. There are a few pools positioned around the gardens which lends itself well to a feeling of privacy as you have no idea just how many people are in resort. It’s evident the beaches are groomed each day and the water sports centre offers a variety of choice, paddle boards, canoes and sailing plus snorkelling equipment is available. The three restaurants are all to a high standard and I couldn’t decide if my favourite was The Cove or Bartleys because each offered something different with one being open air and on the beach front whilst the other was indoor, yet both felt intimate. Karen and Kelisha from concierge asked us daily if we needed anything, arranged our restaurant bookings without a hitch and also organised tours for us....I certainly recommend the helicopter tour of the island, the views are simply stunning. Carolyns bar is a must each afternoon for a cocktail as you soak in the sun....not only is Carolyn good fun but her rum punch is legendary! Finally Kevin the recently appointed General Manager was interested in greeting each guest and very visible in making sure everyone was enjoying their stay. A visit to the spa is a must if you enjoy facials as I had one of the best I can remember. All in all nothing was too much trouble for the staff in this resort, in fact their aim was clearly to make this holiday memorable enough to make you want to return and in my experience they certainly succeeded.

Amazing staff, Beautifully cle....

Arrived at Blue waters by private transfer from the airport, where we were met by Karen from the hotel tour desk. Cold towels and a rum punch during the check in proceedings were very welcome after a long flight. We were immediately taken to our beachside room, which was on the ground floor and had the most beautiful view of the sea. The room was a good size, some of the furniture was a little dated, but it was very clean and housekeeping visited twice a day, once to clean and make beds and in the evening to turn down the bed.The bathroom was large with a lovely free standing bath as well as a large shower. Elemis toiletries replenished daily. Hairdryer which was ok but not quite powerful enough for my long, thick hair. The restaurants were all good with plenty of Caribbean flavours . The Pelican Bar had live entertainment every night, from a pianist to a steel band and singers, all of a very high quality. The drinks were premium brands, lovely cocktails and the bar staff were friendly, helpful and very happy, as were all the staff at this wonderful resort. The gardens are beautiful and the head gardener John takes guests on a tour and is very amusing and passionate about his job. Three beaches ,three pools , two pool bars, one of which is open late on Wednesday for the Manager's cocktail party. A wonderful holiday and I would love to return one day.

Superb Service, Rooms Desperat....

Stayed at in an Oceanview Luxury Suite for 4 nights. Below are the pro's and con's: Pros: - SUPER accommodating service! Everyone was SO attentive. A groundskeeper even helped me tie my sarong! - On-site rental car made renting super easy (a car is definitely needed as Antigua is pretty spread out) - Warm reception welcome with cold towels, drinks, and all check-in information ready to go - Great job with mosquito management around the property - Great lobby area with nightly live music - Cove food was good and decent sized portions - Main restaurant catered well to vegetarians -- lots of great options (even on BBQ night) - Lots of private and unique seating areas around the property -- three different beaches, 3 pools, and lots of chairs meant there was always somewhere to sit and be quiet if wanted - Wednesday Manager's Reception = free drinks!!! - Kevin, the new GM was SO nice! I had a lengthy conversation with him. He really knows his stuff and is working very hard to ensure that the service experience is superb. He will be a great asset to this property for the future and it will be exciting to see how BW progresses with his tenure. Cons: - The rooms were VERY dated (i.e. don't look like the online photos). Furniture was old and didn't have any accent pillows/blankets, cheap bed pillows and sheets (I think I've had better at Motel6 -- seriously!), cracked shower handle, old and heavy sliding doors that were very hard to open (even cut my arm on a bent piece of metal), window shade was broken, fridge was the smallest I've ever seen and just randomly placed in a corner of the room, etc - In talking with many locals over my trip, it seemed to be a local consensus that BW is very dated and hasn't undertaken the renovations that other properties have in recent years. - Light switches didn't control any of the lights -- asked maintenance about this. Was advised switches don't control lights and I should just leave a lamp on all the time if I wanted light. Really? - Only one sink in the entire room. For 600+sq/ft, this is odd. Hard for two people to get ready in the morning sharing one sink. And if you want to fill your coffee maker or ice bucket, better hope the bathroom sink is clean :/ - Each room only got one key, which made it hard for two adults to share. - Worse, the key was a traditional metal key that was labeled with the hotel name and room number. This made me really uneasy as it's really unsafe to have a metal key imprinted with hotel name and room number -- not a good idea if this ever got lost, and we felt really uncomfortable even leaving it at our sunlounge if we went swimming for a bit. Overall: - The service and location were fantastic, but at $500+ USD per night, I expected a lot more updated property and I was disappointed in the overall quality of the accommodations. The owners really need to reinvest in renovations. Until then, I'd choose another property on the island.
