Ski trip

Amazing holiday, amazing hotel. Super cute. Friendly staff, good drinks, reasonably priced. Little spa facilities are great. Rooms are clean and have everything you need. I got engaged at this hotel so it means a little extra to me... ??

Boutique, good location for sl....

Nice reception, very friendly staff. Good but limited self service buffet. Free transport to the slopes. No shops walkable. None. Not a bean. Take anything medical you may need, pills, ear plugs etc. Very powerful shower.

Friendly staff and a lovely ho....

The staff were very friendly, and went out of their way to accommodate for our dietary requirements (we're both vegan), so we were very well fed all week. We arrived late due to a mix up getting our transfer from the airport, and were dreading going to bed hungry, but they'd left a feast for us in our bedroom which was very welcome. There was a free taxi service to the slopes which was very convenient, and the drivers were friendly and knowledgeable about the weather conditions and lift timetable. There were no shops for 10 miles around, so it meant we had to eat out every lunch time. The WiFi was a bit slow and I think it said somewhere that it was limited. However, those were the only negatives of what was overwhelmingly a lovely holiday. Hot showers, comfy beds and lovely staff - we couldn't really ask for better.

Fantastic skiing, great food a....

My boyfriend and I booked through secret escapes as we wanted to try skiing somewhere other than the alps! Despite the long journey from Barcelona Hotel Mu provided the perfect little winter retreat. On check in we received our lift passes and the tickets for our ski hire, the reception staff are lovely and so helpful but do speak limited English so be patient! The double room was very clean and relatively spacious with plenty of storage space for all your skiing gear and has two radiators for drying salopettes, gloves etc after a day on the slopes. The bathroom has a powerful (and very warm) shower and a little hairdryer. After we unpacked we went down to explore the hotel. In reception there is a small sitting area and bar to enjoy drinks, from here you can access the restaurant and the stairs to go down to the spa. The food was really good, for breakfast there’s options of fresh pastries, cereals, fruit and cooked breakfast and for the evening meal there’s a range of two different meats and a fish option every night with a salad bar and soup. Not much of a selection for vegetarians or vegans but plenty of salad and pasta dishes. The restaurant staff are lovely, Jorge and Christia in particular. For a 4* star hotel the spa is lovely, and so relaxing after a day of skiing. It boasts a sauna, steam room and a jacuzzi. Yes the jacuzzi isn’t the warmest but if you use the sauna first it’s lovely. We used the spa everyday and pretty much always had it to ourselves! The steam room wasn’t always working but still great to have use of the spa every evening. There is also a Nordic pool outside which is very warm and made the walk through the bar and outside in the snow in a swimsuit worth it! Only downside is that it is next to the main road but we enjoyed it all the same! If you have booked to go skiing I would recommend booking the free private shuttle service to Ordino-Arcalís at reception in the evening for the following day. On our first day we waited for the free bus for nearly an hour so definitely worth booking the shuttle! It takes about 15-20mins to get to the lifts and is a very pretty drive through the mountains. The ski hire (signposted Lloger) is next door to the information office. The staff are great and a few of them speak fantastic English. All you need is the vouchers given by the hotel and it’s helpful to know your European shoe size and weight in kg. The equipment hire only includes skis, poles and boots so if you want a helmet (about €27 for two) or a snowboard it is extra, and they only except card. They provide you with a locker for the week for a €5 deposit which you get back at the end of the week. As someone who has only skied twice before Ordino-Arcalís was absolutely perfect! On week days we pretty much had the slopes to ourselves (other than the ski schools)! The snow was incredible, fresh powder most days and only one day when the chair lifts were shut due to high winds. There are plenty of blue and red runs and there’s a 8.5km green that runs from the top of the mountain all the way down! If you are an experienced skier there are only two black runs but a good deal of off piste and free ride areas. There are two main lifts, one that goes to the top of the mountain which has a green, two blues, two reds and a black, and then a second lift which takes you to a forested area lower down with just blues and reds. The restaurants on the mountain are lovely, we particularly enjoyed La Coma and highly recommend their hot chocolate! La Coma has more of an aprés atmosphere with great music and a cocktail bar which is great as there’s no aprés around the hotel! Our check out on the last morning was very early (4am) so as we were missing breakfast the hotel provided us with a packed lunch which was amazing! We would both highly recommend Hotel Mu for a cheap and relaxing week of skiing!

Great quiet little base,great ....

A friend and I stayed here 18th-23rd January and had a great stay! We stayed on HB basis and couldn't complain, the evening meal always had soup, fish and meat choices along with pasta or rice! Plenty of choice! The breakfast included bacon, little sausages, scrambled egg was always a bit runny for my liking! The bar is ran by the reception staff out of hrs and was never overly busy! €2.90 for a pint of Heineken in the middle of nowhere seemed more than reasonable to me The room was more than adequate for our liking, nice powerful hot shower with two small radiators to dry our clothes after skiing! Plenty of storage! The rooms were very warm at night even with our radiator turned off, that was even with us having an end room! The bus to the ski slope runs every 2hrs,not every hr I've read elsewhere, don't expect them to stick to the times either, usually 15mins late! The bus takes around 15-20 mins and was very good! The spa bit is good after a day of skiing, the steam room was lovely and hot,the Jacuzzi too cold but served as a good dip after the steam room! We gave up after 3 attempts on the sauna as was always cold! The staff spoke very little English so seemed more hassle than it was worth! The special showers were temperamental,we were told there were some buttons we could press somewhere to sort it but never found them! We collected extra towels and a locker key for the use of these from reception! The tv room downstairs with the table football came in quite useful to pass the evening, the hotel has a restaurant located next door,an Irish bar and also a cafe, but then nothing for miles, the next town is ordinal, but you need to head into Andorra for anything "lively",we didn't bother Our sheets and towels were changed daily, all the extras were in our room such as spare toothbrush, shower gel, sewing kit,but you need to head to the bar for tea and coffee We would happily stag again given the useful location
