Nice old hotel

Booked the hotel through a Tour Operator. The hotel have a nice old atmosfere and the staff is very friendly. It is not a luxury hotel but you have all you need and if you only use it for sleeping / eating it is perfect Breakfast is ok but the dinner could use a “female” touch when plated and served - the food tasted good but sometimes it would be better if the eyes are also happy But overall a nice hotel which i will for sure visit again

Clean and well-kept hotel

My husband and I visited Hotel MonteCarlo in Encamp 5 nights in March. We went to Andorra/Encamp to ski, and it was our first time skiing in the Pyrenees. The hotel is located in Encamp, wich is aprox 4 kilometers outside Andorra La Vella. We chose the hotel because of its aproximity to the Funicamp ski gondola to the Grandvalira ski resort,- but the gondola (cabel car) was much further away than we expected. You cannot walk to the gondola,- you need to take the bus (or go by car). The bus ski-bus is free of charge, and it stops right outside the hotel every 15 minutes. Encamp is not a very nice village, and there's really nothing to do there....no afterski, no nice shops or cafees or restaurants. It's a few sport shops close to the funicamp gondola,- and if we should go back to Encamp, we would have chosen a hotel in walking distance to the Funicamp. The Funicamp gondola is long, and it takes about 15-20 minutes from Encamp to where you can start skiing. The hotel is clean and well-kept,- but seriously outdated. Old decor and old features. It is not very well isolated, and you can hear everything going on in the hallways. Not a positive thing when you want to sleep and people arrive at the hotel in the middle of the night. We got a room in the 6th floor, and the view from our hotel was directely into a huge grey stonewall 1 metre from our windows. No balcony, and no view of skies, trees or even streetlife. We kept the curtains closed....The room was very small, but clean and tidy. People staying in the hotel smoked in their rooms,- and this made it through to our room. Tiny bathroom, but clean and fresh. The nice woman cleaning our room did a great job! We thought the room was cold, and when we asked for a heater, it was provided at once. Very good. The hotel has a free-of-charge parking in the basement. Here you have a locker for skiis and boots as well. We kept ours in the car. We had halfboard with our stay, and I think most of the visitors did. Breakfast from 8-10 am, and dinner 8-10 pm. The food is not outstanding, and if you have intoleranties or allergies, it is better to eat elsewhere. At dinner it is a set 4 course meal and free redwine. Some of the days the food was fresher and better than others, but overall it was just ok. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The visitors staying at the hotel was mainly russians, with some locals, french and scandinavian.

A good 2 star hotel

I visited this hotel with my children of 7 and 10 years. The room was a good size, had plenty of storage for a week of skiing and was cleaned every day. The beds were comfortable, heating was controllable and the bathroom was clean and fresh. I parked my car in the hotel garage which they lock every night. The night porter gave great service when we called in for a 4am breakfast. The family who run this hotel are polite and helpful. Their dog too is a delight - my children loved him. Breakfast was continental with a selection of hot and cold drinks. Corn Flakes and porridge were also on offer. I personally like Kellogg's Corn Flakes, so brought my own. The waiting staff were attentive and polite. The evening meal consisted of a starter, a lighter course, a main course and a choice of 4 desserts. Wine and water were provided free of charge. Again, the waiting staff were attentive and polite. The bar started to get busy at around 6pm, serving both hot and cold drinks. The hotel is located next to (and across the road from) the bus stop which takes you to the Funicamp, Andorra La Vella and the other towns in the Grandvalira range. It is 200m from the town centre and has restaurants, a newsagent, a grocer's, a baker's, a supermarket and a bank machine within a 3 minute walk. This is a well run 2 star hotel which caters to couples, groups and families. It possibly caters for individuals but I did not see any. I can highly recommend it and will use it when next in Andorra.

Lovely old hotel

Only stayed one night in this lovely little old hotel. We were made very welcome and our room was clean, comfortable but small. The hotel is dog friendly which was why we booked and the owners dog was really friendly too. The town of Encamp was very quiet as it was out of season and there were very few shops and restaurants open. We had our evening meal at the hotel and it was extremely good but as it out of season there was little choice on the menu but what we received was excellent.

Beautiful

Stayed at this hotel summer and winter. Great location for a base site. Hotel is very very clean. Owner and all staff are helpful and very polite. The food is first class it is for the Spanish/ French but they will try their best to make something to your liking. The only thing in all the yrs I have stayed there is we were given a room over the restaurant and it was noisy till late at night. Please DO NOT put this off for you as this is a fab hotel.
