About Porbandar

The coastal city of Porbandar does not require much introduction when it comes to historical significance. Mahatma Gandhi, the father of the nation, was born in a blue haveli in this very city. The building has now been converted into a museum called the Kirti Mandir. The museum along with several other tourist attractions in and around the city attracts tourists from around the world, who can reach the destination via Porbandar flights.

Porbandar is said to have existed even during the Harappan civilisation, which justifies its rich culture. The place is also religiously significant as it is considered to be the birthplace of Sudama, who was Lord Krishna's childhood friend. Though presently flights to Porbandar are preferred by tourists to reach the city, its coastline was a major port during ancient times. The coastline, now called the Chowpatty, is one of the major attractions for tourists visiting Porbandar.

The city is served by an airport, which is located not too far from the city centre. The airport connects the city to several cities across the country through flights offered by major airlines. However, there are only a few flights to Porbandar and tourists might not find a flight in the desired time slot. In such an unfavourable situation, tourists can make a flight booking to Jamnagar, which is located close to Porbandar. For best flight deals, log on

Porbandar airport is just 5 Km away from its lively city centre. Diu and Mumbai are well networked with this region through the regular flights of Jet Airways. People can easily reach Porbandar with the help of these prominent airdromes. Natraj Hotel as well as Lila's Hotel are some of the hotels in the vicinity of Porbandar airdrome.
