A little about Nainital

Nainital, the prized possession of Uttarakhand crowned atop the Kumaon hills is a quintessential hilltop hamlet, which has everything it takes to please the avid traveller. Situated 1,938 metres high and 280 kilometres away from Delhi, in to the altitudinous Shivalik Hills in Uttarakhand is Nainital, one of the most picturesque hill stations in India. Renowned for its superb views of the Greater Himalayas and its numerous prestigious educational institutions, the settlement, which is spread around the pear-shaped 3-kilometre circumference lake was completely destroyed in the landslip of 1880. Later resurrected by the will of the gods, Nainital went on to become the most loved getaway destination in North India. There is also a bunch of tourist spots peppered around the tasteful town making it the perfect setting for a family holiday. Nainital is abstractly divided in two halves, with Tallital on the southern side of the lake, Mallital on the northern upper reaches, and scenic spots everywhere in between. It is an excellent year-round weekend getaway and also a great base to explore the numerous beautiful villages and scenic spots in the Kumaon region.
