The Velhas Conquistas regions in Goa are filled with Goa-Portuguese style architecture, Fontainhas in Panjim is a beautiful cultural quarter, an area full of heritage buildings and narrow streets of an age gone by. There are also many forts in Goa, as it was considered a place of much strategic importance. These forts include: Aguada, Gaspar Dias Tiracol, Chapora, Corjuem, and Cabo de Rama. Goa also has many famous temples, most notably the Mangueshi Temple.
There are more than 36 beaches in Goa, and the most famous beaches are Baga, Anjuna, Calangute, Vagator, Arambol, Ozerim, Dona Paula, and Miramar beaches in North Goa, and Majorda, Palolem, Agonda, Benaulim, Varca and Betalbatim beaches in South Goa.
