Here, even ordinary things look beautiful owing to the environs that they dwell in. Wrapped in mists and clouds and drained by tumbling streams, the region around Gangtok offers serenity and enlightenment. It is unlikely to not gain some amount of patience and virtue after visiting the numerous monasteries that dot the area.

Besides exquisite beauty, another attraction is the accessibility of the area through its serpentine roads. Unlike the rest of the country, every nook and corner of the state is accessible by roads that are built and maintained by the Border Roads Organisation.
