When to Go: October to March is the best time to visit Luxor as the weather is cooler during this time compared the rest of the year.

Local Transport: Taxis and mini buses are the most popular ways of commuting in Luxor. You can also hire bicycles and motor bikes or take the ‘caleches’ or horse-drawn carriages (popular in the east bank). Then there are boats, which is the best way to commute between the East and West banks of Luxor. But be careful, most of these boat trips cost a bomb and you may not exactly get the service that you paid for. A safer option is to take the blue local ferry, a very basic boat that will take you across for as low as 1 LE instead of 20 – 30 LE! Walking is undoubtedly the best way to get around the area, which is easily possible in the cooler parts of the day. However, walking may not be the safest option, especially for girls.
