For souvenirs, visit the Lakkad Bazaar selling, as the name suggests, wooden wares. Adjoining the ridge, the bazaar offers everything from toys, figurines, candle stands, key chains, carved sticks to pots, pans and spoons - all made of wood. The emporiums at the Mall sell shawls, caps and scarves. The highlights are the colourful hand knitted socks. In Shimla you can also pick up miniature paintings and Buddhist 'thangkas' or banners that come from Lahaul-Spiti. Other attractions include silver trinkets at the many Tibetan shops at the Ridge.
