The Ganesh temple in the Ranthambhore Fort is probably the most famous in the state if not the country. Not just a belief, it is a common and widespread practice to send all marriage invitations first to this particular deity so as to have a smooth and auspicious wedding and relationship. It is a temple frequented by devotees from far and wide who come here to have their wishes granted and then walk or crawl all the way from their home to thank the lord Ganesh.
The rush of people increases manifold in the months of September/October during Ganesh Chaturthi, which celebrates the birth of the god. The celebrations are marked by singing of devotional songs through day and night.
The Kaila Devi or Mahalaxmi Temple in the village Kaila, situated in the range of Ranthambhore National Park, experiences similar celebrations during the Kaila Devi Fair. Held on the river Kailisil, a fortnight of celebrations mark the event in the Hindu month of Chaitra (April).
