Being the holiday haven it is, Nainital has a profusion of hotels, from small, musty places to large 5-star retreats and everything in between. The hotels situated on the Mall are generally very noisy and afford little peace and quiet. The more peaceful (and expensive) options are located on the outskirts and have superb views of the mountains and the lake. Hotels are booked for weeks during the summer and Dussehra-Diwali holidays. Hotel rates are the highest between March and July, peaking between mid-April and mid-June. It's advisable to book in advance if you plan to visit during these times.
