Eravikulam National Park
Thirteen kms away. Also known as Rajamalai National Park, it was set up in 1978 to preserve the reticent endangered goat, Nilgiri Tahr. The walk through the park, though tiresome, offers immense scenic beauty for the discerning, aesthetically inclined tourist.
Fifteen kms from Munnar, this is the last inhabited area on the way to Madurai along the Western Ghats. It is named after the 'Lake Goddess" and offers splendid views of the terrain.
Top Station
Forty one kms from Munnar, at an altitude of 2,200 mts, it is on the border of Tamil Nadu. It gets its name from a ropeway that connects it to Lower Station via Middle Station. It offers spectacular views of not only the Western Ghats but also the plains of Tamil Nadu.
Idukki Dam
Fifty five kms away is the world's second and Asia's first arch dam at Idukki. Constructed across the Kuravan and Kurathi hills. 650 ft long, it is quite a sight with the clear blue water lashing at its base.
