It is a must-visit destination for anyone with even the remotest streak of an adventurous spirit. Rugged hills, lush fields and serene lakes make up this beautiful destination that offers opportunities for fun, flying and adventure. A hotspot for paragliding, it is frequented by youngsters looking for a break from the monotony of city life.
For those not interested in wild activities, there is a completely different world of ancient Buddhist caves, ruins of fortresses and rustic villages to explore.
Bedsa Caves (25 km)
A three kilometre uphill trek from Bedsa will take you to these captivating caves lined with huge pillars depicting lions and human forms. The suns rays fall directly on the inner sanctum through a skylight that is supported by a vaulted roof with 2000-year-old woodwork. There seems to be an influence of some foreign ancestry in the physical attributes of the sculptures that are not exactly Indian. Another noticeable feature is the absence of figures of Buddha, thus leading to the belief that they belong to the Hinayana sect of Buddhism.
