Getting Connected: Amritsar is the largest city of Punjab and is well connected. The mobile phones have full signal in all parts of the city and ATMs are peppered all over. There is one right outside the Railway Station.
Local Transport
Large, noisy auto rickshaws for longer distances and old fashioned cycle rickshaws for smaller ones are the most convenient modes of travelling within the city. Since Amritsar is such a popular pilgrimage spot jostling with tourists, be careful of touts who may literally want to take you for a ride quoting high prices. Haggle and hold your ground, the ride between the station and the temple should not cost you more than Rs. 40.
You can also rent a car through the hotel you are staying at or any travel agent. Look out for them around the railway station.
