Siliguri is a rapidly developing town located in Darjeeling district of West Bengal state, 650 km from state capital Kolkata. Siliguri is the second largest city of West Bengal after Kolkata. The town is important gateway to north eastern states and also to neighbouring countries of Nepal and Bhutan. Siliguri is the commercial hub of North Bengal region and hosts thousands of domestic and foreign travelers every year. A modern town, Siliguri serves as a base to visit the famous hill station of Darjeeling. Silguri is bestowed with beautiful natural surroundings and offers splendid view of Mounta Kanchenjungha. Station Details Siliguri Junction railway station is one of the major rail heads of West Bengal. The railway station is under the administrative control of the North East Frontier Railways. Siliguri railway station is the only rail head in India, with all the gauges (broad, metre and narrow) of tracks. Located at the base of the Darjeeling hills, the railway station is served by several trains from West Bengal, Assam and other parts of the country. Siliguri is also popular for toy train services to Darjeeling hill station. From Siliguri the toy train leaves for Darjeeling daily in the morning. West Bengal Tourist Office is located close to the railway station. Just behind the railway station is the bus stand, called Tenzing Norgay Central bus terminal.
