Overview
Jalpaiguri is an important town in the
Indian state of West Bengal. Situated 47 km southeast
of Silguri, Jalpaiguri is the divisional headquarters
of the North Bengal region. Jalpaiguri is famous
for its rich culture and old tradition of folk
music and dance. Set along the banks of River Karala,
the town is known as a major hub of tea industry
for many decades. Major attractions of the town
include Roman Catholic Church, Jalpaiguri Rajbari,
Jalpaiguri Nawab Bari, Jubilee Park, Rabindra Bhawan,
Teesta Udyan, Jogomaya Kalibari Temple and Kali
Temple. Other places of interest close to Jalapiguri
are Jalpesh Temple (15 km) and Jaldapara WIldife
Sanctuary (50 km). Jalpaiguri is home to New Jalpaiguri
railway station, which is served by the world famous
Darjeeling Himalayan Railways. The toy train to
Darjeeling passes through lush tea gardens, lofty
picturesque mountains and offers spectacular views
en-route.

Junction railway station is one of the major railheads
of West Bengal and the country as well. Situated
4 km from the city centre, the railway station
is managed by the North East Frontier Railways.
New Jalpaiguri railway station is connected by
several superfast and express trains with almost
every part of the country. Some of the important
train connections to New Jalpaiguri railway station
are Dibrugarh New Delhi Rajdhani Express, North
East Express, Porvotr Sampark Kranti Express, Darjeeling
