Tourist/ Family Visit

  • Passport, (valid for at least 30 days after the intended stay/departure date from South Africa; at least three unused/blank visa pages).
  • Two recent (not older than 30 days/1 month) passport size, ( 35mm x 45mm of the picture) photographs.
  • Fully completed visa application form-(BI84) – must be completed in black ink and block letters.
  • Application form-(BI84) - must be signed by the applicant and signature should match the signature on the passport.
  • Proof of financial means in the form of a 3 months bank statement in original with bank seal, salary slip of last six months.
  • Proof of hotel booking, (verifiable) or letter of invitation stating the following: physical address, as well as contact details of the host and host’s name and signature;
  • Certified copy of the host’s ID or copy of residential status, (permanent residence permit or work permit)
  • Reference/introduction letter from Indian employer. Letter must have the physical address, as well as contact details of authorised signature’s name, designation and signature;
  • Vaccination certificate, (yellow fever) if applicant will travel through and stay in yellow fever belt.
  • The High Commission MAY ask for a Repatriation Draft of INR 40,000/- (as security money) in favour of “SOUTH AFRICAN HIGH COMMISSION” payable at MUMBAI for DELHI High Commission & in favour of “SOUTH AFRICAN CONSULATE GENERAL” payable at MUMBAI for Mumbai Consulate. This money can be collected back by the traveler on his return within two months by showing his passport and the deposit slip of the security money. This is applicable for all Territories.
  • Confirmed return/onward air ticket.
  • Marriage Certificate.
  • Notarised letter of consent for minors, and a full birth certificate.

Transit

Transit visas have been reinstated and as from 1 June 2010, all foreigners from non-visa exempt countries travelling enroute the Republic of South Africa to neighbouring countries (i.e. the Kingdom of Lesotho, the Kingdom of Swaziland, Namibia, Zimbabwe, Botswana and Mozambique) will be required to be in possession of and to produce a valid transit visa upon entering South Africa.

  • Passport, (valid for at least 30 days after the intended stay/departure date from South Africa; at least three unused/blank visa pages)
  • Two recent (not older than 30 days/1 month) passport size, ( 35mm x 45mm of the picture) photographs.
  • Fully completed visa application form-(BI84) – must be completed in black ink and block letters.
  • Application form-(BI84) - must be signed by the applicant and signature should match the signature on the passport.
  • Original covering letter signed by the applicant.
  • Applicant's proof of employment.
  • Documentation stating the purpose of the trip.
  • Valid visa to final destination should be stamped on the passport and copy of the visa.
  • Proof of funds.
  • Vaccination certificate, (yellow fever) if the applicant will travel through or stay in yellow fever belt.
  • The High Commission MAY ask for a Repatriation Draft of INR 40,000/- (as security money) in favour of “SOUTH AFRICAN HIGH COMMISSION” payable at MUMBAI for DELHI High Commission & in favour of “SOUTH AFRICAN CONSULATE GENERAL” payable at MUMBAI for Mumbai Consulate. Seamen

  • The Applicant should have a passport valid for at least 6 months beyond the intended duration of stay. Copies of the first two and last pages of the passport are required. If Applicant has traveled to South Africa before, a copy of the previous visa must also be enclosed.
  • Fully completed visa application form-(BI84) - must be completed in black ink and block letters.
  • Application form-(BI84) - must be signed by the applicant and signature should match the signature on the passport.
  • One Power of Attorney form to be completed by the applicant, with a revenue stamp pasted on it.
  • Two recent (not older than 30 days/1 month) passport size, ( 35mm x 45mm of the picture) photographs
  • A Covering Letter from the Indian Shipping Company is required, indicating the name of the Ship, the port of docking and the expected date that the Seamen will join the ship.
  • The Seamen should be in possession of the Seamen Book and a Letter of Guarantee from the Shipping Company.
  • A copy of valid Continuous Discharge Certificate (CDC).
  • A Letter of Invitation from the South African Agent.
  • Proof of sufficient funds. They can be in the form of:
    • Copies of International Credit Cards.
    • Bank Statements for the last 3 months with the address and telephone number certified with a Bank Seal.
  • Income Tax returns for the last 3 years.
  • Onward country visa.
  • Confirmed onward/return air ticket.
  • For Applicants traveling to Yellow Fever Countries through South Africa, the Yellow Fever Certificate is required.
  • The High Commission MAY ask for a Repatriation Draft of INR 40,000/- (as security money) in favour of “SOUTH AFRICAN HIGH COMMISSION” payable at MUMBAI for DELHI High Commission & in favour of “SOUTH AFRICAN CONSULATE GENERAL” payable at MUMBAI for Mumbai Consulate. This money can be collected back by the traveler on his return within two months by showing his passport and the deposit slip of the security money. This is applicable for all Territories.
  • Processing time is 5 working days.
  • The maximum permitted stay period is 72 hours.

Work Permit

Please apply directly to the South Africa High Commission and the Consulate:

  • Two passport-size photographs not older than six months.
  • A Covering Letter from the Applicant.
  • A Detailed Motivation from the Prospective Employer impressing the necessity of a foreigner for the vacancy.
  • Proof that the vacancy was advertised and Employment Agencies were contacted.
  • The High Commission MAY ask for a Repatriation Draft of INR 40,000/- (as security money) in favour of “SOUTH AFRICAN HIGH COMMISSION” payable at MUMBAI for DELHI High Commission & in favour of “SOUTH AFRICAN CONSULATE GENERAL” payable at MUMBAI for Mumbai Consulate. This money can be collected back by the traveler on his return within two months by showing his passport and the deposit slip of the security money. This is applicable for all Territories.
  • Curriculum vitae of the Applicant.
  • Profile of the Applicant i.e. Employment Records, Special Technical qualification etc.
  • Non Refundable processing fee of USD 169 (equivalent in INR as per the exchange rate), payable in the form of a Bank Draft favoring "SOUTH AFRICAN HIGH COMMISSION" payable at MUMBAI instead of DELHI and INR 100 per page towards mailing charges.
  • The following Certificates are required:
    • A Yellow Fever Certificate.
    • Police Clearance Certificate.
    • Medical and Radiological Reports.
    • If married, the Marriage Certificate.
    • If widowed, the Death Certificate of the Spouse.
    • Proof of experience and qualifications.
    • Certificate from the Department of Labor.
    • Cash deposit for repatriation may be requested in some cases.
  • Processing time is 6 to 8 weeks.

  • A Covering Letter from the Applicant.
  • Proof of Educational Qualifications submitted.
  • Parent's consent on a stamped paper (if the applicant is a minor).
  • Proof of Marital Status.
  • Details about course module and duration.
  • Proof of payment of fee from South Africa Educational Institute.
  • Letter from the School/ Institution in South Africa confirming admission to the course, duration of the course, fees paid and proof of registration.
  • The High Commission MAY ask for a Repatriation Draft of INR 40,000/- (as security money) in favour of “SOUTH AFRICAN HIGH COMMISSION” payable at MUMBAI for DELHI High Commission & in favour of “SOUTH AFRICAN CONSULATE GENERAL” payable at MUMBAI for Mumbai Consulate. This money can be collected back by the traveler on his return within two months by showing his passport and the deposit slip of the security money. This is applicable for all Territories.
  • A copy of the Contract between the School and the Student explaining the aspects related to accommodation, medical etc.
  • Medical and Radiological Certificate (With doctor's reports)
  • Proof of medical cover.
  • Registration with SA Civil aviation Authority in case of CPL.
  • Passport must be valid for a year.
