South African Airways Baggage Allowance

The Baggage Allowance policy of South African Airways allows free checked baggage allowance of 40 kilograms for First Class, 30 kilograms for Business Class, and 20 kilograms for Economic Class passengers. Any kind of carry-on luggage must fit in the overhead compartment or under the seat in front of the passenger. The airline has a special baggage allowance of 40 kilograms for all Bonafide Students travelling on Student tickets, traveling between South Africa and other destinations in Africa. The passenger must check the airline's website or contact Reservations desk to know the details of Baggage Allowance for specific destination or route.

South African Airways offers scheduled services to 30 international destinations in 26 countries in Africa, Asia, the America, Europe, and Australasia. South African Airways, along with British Airways, Air France, Emirates, Malaysia Airlines, Delta Air Lines, United Airlines, Qatar Airways, Korean Air, Qantas and Singapore Airlines (from 27 March 2011), is one of the few airlines to have services to all 6 inhabited continents. The airline announced in December, 2010 about its decision to include six more routes in Africa, including a new route to Benin, Cotonou, and resumption of routes to Cameron and Ghana.

Voyager is an exclusive frequent-flyer program of South African Airways. Voyager comprises of 5 tier statuses, namely Gold, Lifeline Platinum, Blue, and Silver.

South African Airways Fleet

As of March, 2011, the fleet of South African Airways consisted of 61 aircrafts. Specifically, there were 11 Airbus A319, 2 Airbus A330-200, 6 Airbus A340-200, 8 Airbus A340-300, 9 Airbus A340-600, 21 Boeing 737-800, 2 Boeing 737-200, and 2 Boeing 737-300 aircrafts.
