Saudi Arabian Airlines History

Saudi Arabian Airlines was established in 1945 and commenced its operations with a single twin-engine DC-3 (Dakota) HZ-AAX. It was actually a present given to King Abdul Aziz by Franklin D. Roosevelt, the President of the United States. Within months, two more DC-3s were added to the fleet of the airlines, which has been growing ever since. At present, Saudia is a proud owner of 139 aircrafts that are known for the state-of-the-art technology. These massive aircrafts cover various international and national routes. The low cost airlines, in order to improve on its services and infrastructure, inked an agreement with SITA in the year 2009. Moreover, it became a member of the SkyTeam Global Alliance, which proves beneficial for its passengers as they get more flight options. In order to add to the comfort of passengers, Saudia started SMS service that gives them all the information about flights and other travel related queries.
