The Bulawayo Airport is officially named the Joshua Mqabuko Nkomo International Airport (BUQ) after J.M Nkomo, the late leader and founder Zimbabwe African People's Union, who was affectionately called Father Zimbabwe. Joshua Mqabuko Nkomo International Airport is a public airport with modern facilities that is located near the city of Bulawayo. The airport has two runways, measuring 2,548 metres and 1326 metres in length. There are 2 commercial airlines operating out of the Bulawayo Airport (BUQ), which are Air Zimbabwe and South African Airways. Air Zimbabwe runs flights to Harare, Johannesburg and Victoria Falls, while South African Airways runs flights to just Johannesburg.
