Previously known as Kiyevichi Airport, Vladivostok International Airport ( VVO ) is a public airport serving Vladivostok city of Russia. Operated by Vladivostok Avia, Vladivostok International Airport has two airfields, namely Lake Springs and Knevichi. Both Lake Springs and Knevichi airfields have two artificially covered airstrips. While Lake Springs Airfield is only used for landing, Knevichi Airfield is used both for take-off and landing. Vladivostok International Airport has two passenger terminals including an international terminal and a domestic terminal. Vladivostok Air is the major airline based in Vladivostok International Airport and it offers domestic flights for many cities in Russia as well as international flights to Asia, Europe, Africa and North America.
Founded in 1926 in Berlin, following a merger between 'Deutsche Aero Lloyd' (DAL) and 'Junkers Luftverkehr', Lufthansa's original name was Deutsche Luft Hansa Aktiengesellschaft. The word 'Lufthansa' was adopted in 1933.Lufthansa fought the World War II in 1939, but was suspended following the defeat of Germany in 1945. Lufthansa, as a new entity was recreated on 6 January 1953 as Aktiengesellschaft f?r Luftverkehrsbedarf (Luftag) and was renamed Deutsche Lufthansa Aktiengesellschaft on August 6, 1954. On 1st April, 1955, Lufthansa resumed scheduled service within Germany, while international operations started on 15 May 1955, with flights to destinations in Europe, followed by service to New York. South Atlantic routes were resumed in August 1956. Today, Lufthansa Airlines is Europe's largest airline and also the flag carrier of Germany. The name of the company is derived from Luft (the German word for ""air""), and Hansa (after Hanseatic League, the powerful medieval trading group).
