Silvio Pettirossi International Airport ( ASU ) is the primary domestic and international air gateway of Paraguay, and serves to Paraguay's capital city Asuncion. Earlier known as Presidente Stroessner International Airport, the international airport had been renamed as Silvio Pettirossi International Airport after Paraguay's noted aviator Silvio Pettirossi. Currently, Silvio Pettirossi International Airport has a 3,353 long runway and one terminal that has been divided into domestic and international concourses. Silvio Pettirossi International Airport is a major hub for TAM Paraguayan Airlines and Regional Paraguaya. Aerochaco, Aerolineas Argentinas, Aerosur, Gol, PLUNA and TACA Peru are other airlines that operate flights to and from Silvio Pettirossi International Airport.
Founded in 1926 in Berlin, following a merger between 'Deutsche Aero Lloyd' (DAL) and 'Junkers Luftverkehr', Lufthansa's original name was Deutsche Luft Hansa Aktiengesellschaft.
