About Biman Bangladesh
Operating from Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka, Biman Bangladesh airlines is the flag carrier of the country. The airline, commonly called Biman, provides convenient transfer services from Dhaka to major domestic routes. Furthermore, direct as well as stopover flights are offered by Biman Bangladesh to 18 international destinations across Asia and Europe. These include major cities in the Middle East, South Asia, Southeast Asia and four others in Europe including London, Manchester, Milan and Rome. In order to provide in-flight meals, Biman Bangladesh airlines established the Biman Flight Catering Centre (BFCC) in 1989. This wholly-owned subsidiary provides 8500 meals a day not only to Biman Bangladesh, but also to other regional and international airlines like Emirates, Dragonair, Etihad, Saudi Airlines, Malaysia Airlines, Thai Airways and China Southern Airlines. Most of the eggs and chicken consumed by BFCC come from the Biman Poultry Complex, another subsidiary of Biman, that was set up in 1976. Considering the predominance of Muslims in the country, a major profit generated by the carrier comes from the annual Hajj flights. In fact, Biman is the only regional airline that has been permitted by the nation’s government to carry pilgrims to Jeddah.
