About Malaysia Airlines

Malaysian Airways Limited (MAL) was founded on October 12, 1937 following the proposal to open an air route between Penang and Singapore. This proposal was made by the Imperial Airways and Straits Steamship of Singapore. As a national airline, MAL started its first commercial flight on April 2, 1947. It took Malaysia Airlines only ten years from 1937 to 1947 to be the national airline. The airline was re-christened as Malaysia-Singapore Airlines (MSA), Malaysian Airline Limited, and Malaysian Airline System over the time, before settling down upon its current moniker of Malaysia Airlines. In the year 1972, Malaysia Airline System started its operation and was later re-named Malaysia Airlines, which continues to serve the country as its flag carrier. Recently, in 2012 the airline took a leap forward by adding the first Airbus A380-800. It also set a record in the same year by launching a schedule service between London Heathrow Airport and KL International Airport. Malaysia Airlines flights are known for their prompt services, low air fares, convenient online booking system. Though the air tickets are cheap, the airline never compromises with its service standards. The carrier has a good record of providing world-class service and has over 100 awards to its credit. The prominent awards received by Malaysia Airlines include 5-star Airline, Staff Service Excellence for Asia Award, World’s Leading Airline to Asia and Asia’s Leading Airline among others.
