Fleet

Gulf Air boasts of an extraordinary fleet of 34 with aircrafts like the Airbus A319-100, A320-200, A321-200, A330-200, A340-300 and Boeing 777-300ER. Gulf Air's service to London has Fifty Hackney Carriages for all fights from London Heathrow to Bahrain and beyond! On 1 March 2010, Gulf Air launched its new "Falcon Gold" cabin, a single premium cabin that is aimed at offering higher standards of comfort for the usual price. Temporarily, the same seats will be used until a new-state-of-the-art flat bed seat is launched soon. In addition to this, Gulf Air also expects to add another 59 aircrafts including Airbus A330-300 and Boeing 787-8 to its fleet by 2012.

Baggage Allowance

The baggage allowance as per Gulf Air baggage policy is 30 kgs for Economy class passengers and 40 kgs for Falcon Gold Passengers. These luggage restrictions hold good for children as well (2 years or older). The Gulf Air check-in luggage, as per frequent flyer program, can exceed by an extra 20 kgs of baggage (for Gold members) and an extra 15 kgs (for Silver members). Excess baggage is chargeable as per class of ticket and point of origin of flight. Gulf Air cabin baggage allowance is different for different classes. For Falcon Gold a total of 9 kgs of baggage is allowed and for Economy Class, total 6 kgs of baggage is permissible.

Gulf Air's meticulous services to India and other destinations have earned it numerous accolades over the past few years. In 2006, Gulf Air was the proud recipient of the Golden Award in the on board service category. Gulf Air has also been honoured with the title of Overall Winner by the International Travel Catering Association (ITCA) for its innovation, quality in application and customer satisfaction.

Gulf Air History

Gulf Air was started in the 1940's as an air taxi service to Doha and Dhahran from Bahrain. It was later expanded to a private share holding company under Gulf Aviation. In 1973, Gulf Air starting its services to Kingdom of Bahrain, State of Qatar, Emirate of Abu Dhabi and the Sultanate of Oman, becoming the national carrier for the Persian Gulf. In 1981, Gulf Air became part of the IATA and in 1982, it became the first international airline to land at Riyadh. On its completion of 40 years in 1990, Gulf Air became the first Arab airline to fly to Australia. Thereafter, Gulf Air flew to many new destinations like Johannesburg, Thiruvananthapuram, Casablanca, Jakarta, Rome, Zurich and many others.
