About Malaysia Airlines

Malaysian Airways Limited (MAL) was founded on October 12, 1937 following the proposal to open an air route between Penang and Singapore. This proposal was made by the Imperial Airways and Straits Steamship of Singapore. As a national airline, MAL started its first commercial flight on April 2, 1947. It took Malaysia Airlines only ten years from 1937 to 1947 to be the national airline.
