Owned by the government of Kuwait and based in Kuwait City, Kuwait Airways is the national flag carrier of Kuwait. Established in 1954 by two Kuwaiti businessmen and later taken over by the government at a time when it was facing a financial crisis, Kuwait Airways initially operated in a limited network comprising Abadan, Beirut, Damascus and Jerusalem.
