British Airways Logo The largest airline and the national carrier of The United kingdom, British Airways (BA) is based at London Heathrow Airport in London, England. It also has a presence at London Gatwick Airport. Headquartered at Waterside, Harmondsworth in the London Borough of Hillingdon, the British Airways is the outcome of nationalization of two London based airlines - British Overseas Airways Corporation and British European Airways.

British Airways Baggage Allowance

The British Airways baggage policy is different for different flights and is specific to different areas as well. Class-wise, baggage rules vary from just one bag of 23 kgs in World Traveller Euro Traveller Domestic class to 3 bags of up to 32 kgs each in First Club World class. Everything in excess is liable to a charge. As clearly stated in the British Airways cabin baggage policy, one bag together with a laptop or a hand bag is allowed. However, the extra bag must fit under the seat or in front of the passenger.

British Airways flies to nearly 150 destinations, across 69 countries. It is one of only nine carriers to fly to all six permanently inhabited continents. British Airways is also the 12th largest cargo airline through its subsidiary British Airways World Cargo. The airline offers passenger flights to destinations across all major countries in Africa, the Caribbean, Middle East and Europe besides Australia and Asian countries including China, Japan, Maldives, Singapore and Thailand. In North America, British Airways flies to Bermuda, Canada, Mexico and various cities in the United States of America. The major destinations include Atlanta, New York, Washington, D.C, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Miami, Newark, San Francisco and Seattle. Within India, British Airways operates flights out of airports at Bangalore, Chennai, Delhi, Mumbai and Hyderabad.

With passenger comfort as their main focus, on-board services offered by British Airways have seat-back entertainment systems, fully adjustable head rest and sumptuous meals and beverages on offer. British Airways goes all out to pamper its passengers. With three or four classes of service - World Traveller (Economy), World Traveller Plus (Premium Economy), Club World (Business Class) and FIRST (First Class), offered most of its long haul international routes, British Airways caters to all passenger groups. Besides Executive Club, its main frequent flyer program, British Airways also offers benefits through the frequent flyer programs in the Oneworld alliance.

British Airways Fleet

Initially, British Airlines inherited UK built fleet of aircrafts, and often equipped its Boeing aircrafts with British-made Rolls Royce engines. Between 1980 and 1990, the airline introduced Boeing 737, Boeing 757, Boeing 747-400, Boeing 767 and Boeing 777 to meet its growing needs and today, the airline's long haul fleet mainly comprises Boeing 747-400s amounting to 57 in total, making British Airways the largest operator of the type in the world. Other aircrafts in its fleet include a variety of Boeings like737 - 400 (19), Boeing 747 - 400 (57), Boeing 767 - 300 ER (21), Boeing 777 - 200 ER (43)and others besides the Airbus A318 (2 nos), Airbus A319 (33), Airbus A320-200 (40) and Airbus A321-200 (11). British Airways fleet currently stands at a total count of 228 aircrafts.
