American Airlines has a vast fleet of 620 aircraft that include aircrafts of Airbus, Boeing and McDonnell Douglas MD families. Baggage Allowance

American Airlines baggage policy allows Economy Class passengers to check-in one bag weighing 20 kgs free of charge, the luggage dimensions of which shouldn't exceed 157 linear centimetres (l + b + h). Passengers for all other classes are allowed to check-in 2 bags with the same dimensions and weight, free of charge. As per American Airlines Cabin Baggage rules, one carry-on bag is allowed inside the cabin, the dimensions of which should not exceed 114 centimetres (l + b + h). In addition to this, baggage rules allow a personal item such as a laptop, briefcase or purse inside the cabin as well.

The consolidation of scores of companies coming together to formulate today's American Airlines began in 1929. The Aviation Corporation was formed to acquire young aviation companies, including Robertson. In 1930, The Aviation Corporation's airline subsidiaries were incorporated into American Airways, Inc. In 1934, American Airways became American Airlines, Inc. On June 25, 1936, American was the first airline to fly the Douglas DC-3 in commercial service. As the business grew, Douglas DC-4, DC-6A and DC-7 freighters were put into service in the 1940s and 1950s. Further keeping continued success rate and overt additions, in February, 2009, the OneWorld global alliance that includes American Airlines as a founding member marked its 10th anniversary.
