Air France baggage policy allows a total weight of 12 kgs/ 26.5 lbs for a passenger traveling in economy class and 18 kgs for a business class passenger. History about Air France

Air France came into existence on October 7, 1933 with a big merger of four airline companies, namely Air Orient, Air Union, Compagnie Generale Aeropostale, Compagnie Internationale de Navigation Aerienne (CIDNA) and Societe Generale de Transport Aerien (SGTA). Prior to merger the constituent members of Air France were operating their flights across Europe and French colonies in North Africa. During World War II Air France started its operations to Casablanca (Morocco). On July 1, 1946 Air France inaugurated its direct scheduled flight between Paris and New York. In the year 1948 with 130 aircraft Air France operated one of the biggest fleets of the world. On January 12, 1990, Air France became bigger with a merger happened among the government-owned Air France, semi-government Air Inter and fully private UTA. Further on September 30, 2003 Air France and Holland based KLM Royal Dutch Airlines announced a merger that came into effect on May 5, 2004. Despite owned by a single company, both Air France and KLM operate flights with their own brand names.
