The Hotel is a very old building and due respect has been given to preserving the same. The wooden flooring gets sinking in some areas and the hot water is limited to 3 hours each in the mornings and evenings, the mattresses are not as fluffy as a 5* hotel and the Dinner buffets could be improved to include some local Kumaoni delicacies instead of Butter Chicken for Heavens' sake. But the staff is polite and helpful, going the extra mile for you, the rooms have an old world charm and are joyously spacious(Deluxe n above at least), with Huge bathrooms having all modern amenities. The place is up a hill, surrounded by the green jungles all around, lovely lawns with choicest garden furniture to chill out on and enjoy your gupshup and more while gazing into the wilds.. a LOVELY place !

The service & food was one of the best we have tasted in India. The rooms were dingy & dark - The mattresses were hard & thin causing back pain.

West View is a 140 year old ex-British raj home. It was converted into a hotel about 50 years ago and if one is interested to stay in rooms with wooden ceilings 20 ft high, rooms about 30 ft x 30 ft and spacious washrooms, then west view is a great place to stay. The furniture, very well maintained, too is as old as the age of the hotel. It gives an experience of the ways of lives of the British. Like any peaceful resort, West View is located far (4 km) away from the main Sadar Bazar Market of Ranikhet. It also has a badminton court and one can even take short treks just the moment you step out of the hotel's gate into the woods across the road. The food, especially the dinner, prepared at the hotel is tasty. Its only negative is that it doesnÂ’t have a bar. An ideal place for matured people. A Family without kids or couples looking for a peaceful stay away from the city rush should like this place.
