Khimsar is best reached from Jodhpur, about 90 km away, or from Jaipur, about 300 km away. The nearest airport and railhead is in Jodhpur.

The Khimsar Fort lies in close proximity to the main attractions of the area offering day excursions to the magnificent 10th century Nagaur Fort, a visit to the fabled 8th century Jain temples at Osian and a jeep safari or camel safari at the ethnic Bishnoi village and an exciting tour through the Panchla Reserve.
