When I visited in Allepey, they provided me some vrindavan house boat and the room was not good and also there were no garlands. Its waste of money.

After having a tour on a houseboat you will realize that they are overpriced. We rented a basic houseboat with a price tag of Rs.6500 a night for 1 BR without an AC. Fortunately it rained that day otherwise Kerala has a very hot and humid climate. Houseboat was very basic, slightly unhygienic. It started sailing around 12:30 PM in afternoon, Anchored at 13:30 upto 1500 hrs. Then sailed again till 1730 hrs before parking for the night. Morning it started around 08:00 hrs before concluding journey at 9:30 hrs. So in all 4-5 hrs sailing at 6500 bucks! recommended that you better stay at a star hotel on backwaters and have a day cruise. It will be more satisfying,or else if you have deep pockets then higher a luxury houseboat which might cost you anywhere 15000-17000 in season. Also, canal water is green with people living on both side of the banks, so not much flora and fauna to watch.
