A serene place, quite unlike the normal stuff in and around the Mall Road (where almost all the hotels have lake view rooms but lack tranquility) * Located in Mallital, further up from the Naini Lake but quite close to the market nonetheless (10-15 minutes walk downhill and around 20 minutes walk uphill). If you are tired of city life and looking to be away from crowds its an ideal place * The rooms have a classic feel and are spacious * The lawn at the front is ideal to lounge and take some sun bath on a cold day * Did not try the hotel food though - only part breakfast and that was average * Beds in the room were between average and good with flat screen TV in each room * Washrooms were clean and hot water supply worked fine * Overall - value for money

Toilet was stinking, bad smell, bed was not long enough- less than 6 feet. Room service was very bad. Hotel food was very very costly & quality was also Ok. No view from hotel even we had garden facing heritage room. These rooms are not recommended as garden is very small & not worth paying high amount for that. Rooms were vey big. Bathroom fittings & room furniture is not that good.

Hotel is good, but not value for money. Location is far from mall road and stiff up in the hill, walking up is difficult and specially in late evening it is dark, deserted. At same rate one can get same catagory hotel at mall road.

I reached hotel early in the morning at 6 AM and still they give me room without any extra charges for early check-in. Hotel front garden is spacious.

The bathrooms were not at all clean and were slippery. The dustbins and the toilets were dirty and there was garbage here and there. Only food and location was good. Service was poor.

The hotel is located near the high court which is about 10 minutes walk from the busy Nani Lake. The hotel is well maintained and service is excellent. If you want to stay in a calm and quiet place and want to forget the busy city life for a few days, the hotel is really a good choice.

The hotel did not care for the guests since the booking was made from makemytrip.com. The bathrooms were awful and leaking. We could not sleep for three nights. Despite informing the reception nothing was done to fix the bathroom.

Stayed at The Pavilion, Nainital for 3 nights from June 12, 2010 till June 14, 2010, group included four couples and four kids. Our experience at this hotel was kind of mixed. Lets start with good things first. 1) Location is very good, just next to the High Court - if you are coming from Kaladhungi side, you can easily drive up the hotel without being caught up in any traffic. People looking to be away from crowds and still be in walking distance of Mall Road will like it. Those looking for Naini Lake view or "right on the Mall" option should avoid it. 2) Mall Road/Naini Lake is 10 minutes walk downhill. You can enjoy shopping at candle shops on the way. But walking back uphill to hotel will be tiring, so recommend to take a taxi that costs between Rs. 60 to 100. 3) Hotel has nice little play area for kids and a garden. We had 4 kids in our group and they thoroughly enjoyed the open space they had for themselves. 4) We stayed in "Garden Facing Heritage Suites" - these rooms were spacious with separate sitting area, verandah overlooking the garden had sitting area for each room as well. So you could enjoy your cup of tea while kids played in the garden. 5) Hotel staff was generally polite and helpful. 6) Hotel restaurant served nice food, we did not opt for meal plan and had ala-carte dinner once. Masala tea was not good. Now for the sore points: 1) Rooms were not aesthetically done, in fact they were not done at all. Very basic furniture - we booked four rooms and all had different kind of beds - One room had a bed with pillars at each corner and one the pillar blocking view to TV, it would have made sense if there was a bed canopy or something but they were just naked ugly pillars. Another room had two large cots put together to form a double bed with standard size mattresses on them leaving around 9" uncovered bed on both sides! 2) Sofa, center table and chairs in seating area were all different. Sofa had all sorts of stains. Entire furniture gave a look and feel that it had been accumulated over the years from different junk yard sales. 3) Washrooms were clean, but not well stocked. They provide only mini soaps and two towels. Flush in two of the washrooms were non-functional on day one (they were repaired on complaint), washroom door in one room would not lock. One room had a bathtub and others did not. Though hot water supply was good. 4) TV in each of the four rooms had bad reception and were hardly of any use. 5) There is no ceiling fan and we did not need any as it rained on two of the three nights we stayed there. I am not sure if you could get away without one on a hotter night. 6) We requested for a camp fire to be arranged for our group, but hotel manager refused. To conclude we felt though hotel had nice look and feel to it, good location but rooms were not well kept. It was certainly not the quality you would expect after paying Rs 3750 per night! Certainly not the value for money. Would recommend to people looking for spacious hotel in nice location away from crowds and not particular about in room luxury.
