We were received with jasmine garlands and a welcome drink. Checking in took no time at all and we were soon sitting for a hearty meal. The furniture is all typical Kerala "Tharavadu" style. Even the doors and windows reminded me of my old family house. The "charupady" as they say is wonderful for relaxing in the evening. We had the good fortune to meet a family of Nilgiri Langurs who had camped in the trees near our balcony. After mutual exchange of growls and making horrid faces we parted as good friends. The swimming pool is great but too open for an Indian's modesty. Above all I liked the courtesy and the camaraderie of all the staff, especially the young girls and boys. Food is excellent. Homely feeling about the place. No formalities and restrictions. Breakfast could be stretched up to 11.30 even, with a smile!! If you are prepared to spend a little for your occasional splash, I can certainly recommend Elephant Court.
