The room was v small.The shocking part was the washroom which was not only too small but was built in zig zag shape. Recommended for worst washrooms awards !

The Astor hotel has a great staff & service. The infrastructure is getting older & causing troubles but the staff is quick enough to fix it in less than 5 minutes of reporting.(For example when Key got stuck in Hotel Card Key Switch help arrived in 5 minutes to fix it, When front door of the room got locked again help arrived in 5 minutes) Though due to short stay I missed the opportunity to order lunch & dinner, but from complimentery breakfast I can say the food is great. Value add: On my request While checking out hotel called a taxi which took to K.C. Roy where I was able to buy canned Rossogulla (Sweets) on my way to airport. If you are going to Kolkata for visa, hotel location is good.

This was certainly not a good hotel. The building, room amenities and carpet were old and had a foul odor. The staff were nice enough, but that could not make up for the low quality of the accomodations. The airconditioner was stuck on high and the knob was irreparable according to the maintenace staff. The entire second floor smelled of cigarette smoke and mold. I certainly would not recommend this hotel.

The linen towel and odour in the bathroom reminded me of various scenes in Slumdog Millionaire. The receptionist took my Driving License for photocopy and had to be reminded 3 times over phone to return. Finally I had go down to the receptionist in person to collect it. The towels in the bathroom resembled a cloth used to wipe the floor and the pillows were damp and soiled. Since it was a one night and my place of visit was just a street away held back from changing the hotel.

The hotel was very nice - room and accommodations were fantastic. My one minor complaint was that our room had no real window or view, so the room was a bit dark and stuffy. Washroom was very neat and modern.

Overall stay was good. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Hotel location is definitely a plus. Food in restaurant Kabab-e-que is delicious. However rooms of the hotel are smaller in size compared to what they might look in the photos. My opinion not a great value for the hefty amount paid for it. Also parking space is very limited. Also hotel has no lift, we were lucky though to get room in first floor itself!

It is a small hotel and that has its advantages. The service is personalized. The breakfast served, was sumptuous and utterly satisfactory. The only mid-sized restaurant served good food at reasonable prices. But that makes it a very popular destination for the local diners of Kolkata. That is both good and bad. They have a nightclub, too, which we didn't try.

I will not recommend, lot of noise come from the night club.

One of the finest business Hotels in the area. Service is good. Courteous staff. Breakfast menu and quality to be improved.

The hotel is nice, well kept and clean. The rooms are well equipped and the décor is nice. The reception staffs were very helpful. The food at the Kebab-e-que restaurant is very good. Complimentary breakfast was a pleasant surprise.
