Saputara Overview
Saputara literally means the 'Adobe of Serpent', and the city was developed as a planned hill station. It is located at an average elevation of 1000m in the Sahyadari range. It has an agreeable climate, the highest temperature usually never exceeding 28 degrees celsius, and is an extremely scenic spot, with views over the beautiful valley. This planned hill station is complete with all the necessary facilities and amenities, and has many hotels, theatres, and parks, as well as a boating club. A visit to the nearby wildlife sanctuary in the Mahal Bardipara forest is possible, as well as to Purna Sanctuary, and the Vansda National park. The beautiful Gira Waterfalls are also only 52 km away. Sunset and Sunrise Point are two extremely scenic vantage points in the city, which must also be seen.
