Ri Kynjai means "land of serene environs" in the local Khasi language. Located next to the beautiful Umaim Lake, the resort is aptly name Ri Kynjai- Serenity by the Lake. Hotel Facilities
The hotel has an Emporium which showcases textiles and crafts from around North-East. Ri Kynjai also has a spa that is equipped with the state-of-the-art hydrotherapy equipment and offers traditional Khasi massage and herbal treatments. The resort also organises cultural programmes in the evening, a showcase of folk song and dance. Ri Kynjai also has a tie-up with the Shillong Golf Course and all the guests can play and avail the facilities of the 18-hole Golf Course, the second oldest in Asia.

Room Amenities
The rooms at Ri Kynjai are exquisitely furnished and spacious, and give guests a beautiful view of the beautiful surrounding vistas. There are 2 types of rooms at Ri Kynjai, the Vernacular Hybrid Cottage, and the Superior Room. All the rooms are equipped with a range of modern amenities like satellite television, telephone, room heater, Wi-Fi internt connection, tea/ coffee maker, fireplace and balcony sit-out. The attached washroom have hot and cold water facility.

The Vernacular Hybrid Cottages These hybrid cottages are supported on tall circular stilts and are derived from vernacular Khasi architecture and portray the transition from tradition to modernity with an unusual interpretation of the upturned boat roof in metallic thatch fused to modern gables. Designed with an eye for detail, the intricately framed ceiling is set off by red pine walls and flooring. The fireplace in the living-bedroom area, adds a cosy intimacy to cool nights. Wooden steps lead up to a loft which serves as auxiliary space.

Superior Rooms The elegant 800 sq. feet red pine panelled rooms are spacious and meticulously planned. Each includes a sleeping and living area, bathroom, dressing room, and opens out to a balcony where you can relax and enjoy the spectacular view.

Dining
Ri Kynjai has an excellent restaurant and bar called Sao Aiom, which means 'Four Seasons' in Khasi. It serves Indian and Continental cuisine as well as North-eastern specialties. It also has a well stocked bar.
