Had a comfortable stay. Rooms are spacious and well decorated. Staff is courteous and always have a big smile on their face. Food is delicious, loved their signature dish aloo ka palda. Located a bit far from main activity area of the city but that is actually good because it is too crowded in main Shimla to stay there unless you want to see dirty rooftops with black water tanks. Overall 9 out of 10 and a special point for restaurant staff.

Good five star property well located about 500 meters from Mall Road with good view of the valley. Parking is available but will be congested in peak season. Rooms, bath and common areas are well maintained and clean. Property has lot of open spaces, terraces and some of the rooms have balcony also. Currently they are covering a big terrace with glass - including the roof. This maybe good in rainy season. Swimming pool is just okay. Did not use Spa - should be good considering the charges! If you take room in second block which is nearer to valley, then some stairs about 20 steps need to be negotiated. Dining is good. Breakfast is buffet and good continental plus Indian. Included in the reservation charges. They do have dinner buffet but at 1200 plus tax per person may not be good value for money. A la carte is good but they seem to have a common gravy rogan josh and chicken lababdar tasted the same! Food quality is overall good. Hospitality is excellent. Person to be appreciated is Mr Ravi in restaurant who is always around and anticipated our needs. Mr Chander in housekeeping also needs to be commended for his devotion to work. I do not remember the names from reception staff and the mini library, but they were all very courteous and helpful. Hotel has provided DVD player along with TV and cable connection in the rooms. However their DVD collection is limited in quantity as well as quality - needs correction. I always prefer DVD over cable no ads! For going to Mall road, get a car drop or a steep 10 minutes walk for the fit to Auckland tunnel, hotel charges 150 plus tax per trip and then walk up about 70 steps to Lakkar Bazar, Ridge and then Mall. If you have own vehicle then a 2 Km drive to Lift near Combermere Hotel where parking is usually available. Lift takes you to Mall road in 2 stages - charges are Rs 10 per person. Overall experience of the hotel is very good. It is well deserved pricey. Definitely recommended unless on budget.

1. No activities in the hotel, no games - indoor and outdoor only one pool table, though Shimla being tourist place, people come for holiday with family. 2. There is nothing in the kids activity room, kids were extremely bored. And it is in front of the bar, very poor. 3. The swimming pool at a hill station holiday destination should be temperature controlled. We all were so eager to enjoy in pool but could not due to the extremely cold water. 4. We had booked 4 rooms for 4 nights, requested for late check out, but were denied, reason given hotel is full, although it was not full we are 100 percent sure.

Heating system was not effective, temperature outside the room was equal to the temperature inside. On calling hotel staff, they sent one person to correct it, but it was of no help. We had to wear jackets while sleeping. Funny but true. Room also has single layer thin glass windows. Location is quite far too. Not as close as it seems on a paper. Water heating system seems to be on power saving mode, we had to call the staff and request them to turn on hot water supply for our room. There was delay in confirmation email from MakeMyTrip to the hotel because of which my family had to spend about 2 hours in the hotel lobby. Finally MakeMyTrip executive corrected the email id of this hotel in their database.
