About Pune history, this city is known to have existed as a place of civilization since 937 AD earlier with the name Punawadi , the region ruled by Rashtrakuta dynasty who built the Pataleshwar rock cut temple complex, Pune was belonging to Seuna Yadavas of Devagiri from 9th to fourteenth century,  while during eighteenth century, this city became an important political center with Peshwa having his office as the prime minister of the Chhatrapati Shivaji, playing a significant role in  Indian politics, at the same time, Pune going through a number of developmental projects such as construction of Gurwar, Somwar, Ganesh and Ghorpade Peths, as Shivaji Maharaj also encouraging construction of dams in Parvati and Kodhwa regions for agricultural progress, although for a period of 27 years there was tussle between Marathas and Mughals, however in later times Pune went to the hands of  Britishraj in 1817, when it served as a cantonment area and also the monsoon capital of the Bombay Presidency till India got Independence in 1947.
