Excellent houseboat, very clean, 24hrs hot water was the best part

A well-maintained houseboat with a nice ambiance to make your holiday a memorable one.

There was no t.v which was bad. Also lots of light fluctuations. Others everything is ok.

except for the location i.e. Nigeen Lake, which is quite and clean lake, I would not recommend the peacock houseboat for a few reasons: fluctuating voltage (we didnt have the fan for 5 hrs in the night), the food was also pretty ordinary. The water in the houseboat taps was also not very clean. When we complained to the caretaker about the fan not working, instead of offering words of consolation, he said it was very normal for electricity to go there in the houseboat! plz avoid peacock houseboats.

There are absolutely promised facilities. Through out our stay for 5 days, there was either no power supply or very poor low voltage in the room. we suffered a lot in hot srinagar without even fan. the available back up is for only one cfl bulb switched on between 8pm and 10 pm. no tv or dvd player in the room as promised. no news paper. no toileteries like shampoo,coconut oil etc. we had to advance our check out by a day wasting one day rent as we were unable to bear with it. we felt as if wehave wasted our hard earned money as well as our precious vacation.

This was my first visit to Srinagar and i think i have choosen the right place to stay. The Houseboat is very well maintained and the service is excellent. The owner and the staff is very cooperative and offers exellent service. One will feel like having a home out of home. The houseboat we got have got two rooms, drawing dining and a balcony offering exellent view of the hills standing above the Nageen lake. If one wants to leave in peace and in the lap of nature than Peacock Houseboat is the place for you. The only problem was the electricity as supply was erratic and with low voltage. But it can be ignored as less lights actually made the stay more beautifull. Another problem is no market near the houseboat and one have to take a cab if wants to go to nearest main market. The shikara rides near the houseboat are fantastic with a nice view of the snow clad hills. The food served by the houseboat staff is execllent and actually like home food. Overall great experience.
