Newa Regency Reviews, Pelling

We had some road delays so we reached Newa at about 8.30pm when Pelling is almost wrapping up for the day. Most of the other restaurants in town were shutdown. Newa was the only one still open for its guests. The food was good, hot and we were happy we got something at the late hour. The staff was in general courteous and helpful, though we had to chase them down for clean towels. The main problem is maintenance. It must have been a good hotel when it started off. However, the cleanliness was lacking. The rooms look very old, paint is peeling, and furniture looks old. Our main disatisfaction was the bathroom. There was heavy mold all over from the rains, shower, and lack of sufficient air circulation. The mgmt is just milking the property. We were only staying for one night so we ignored. The view from the balcony is not great. Faces the street.

Hotel was pretty decent, prime location, situated in lower Pelling. We really enjoyed the awesome view of Kanchenjunga from the hotel. It has got a big balcony for relaxing and for enjoying the breathtaking view of the mountains.

I must stay apart from few shortcomings. As per my expectations the hotel was at one of the best locations. Food was very nice and view from the room was awesome. Two things can be incorporated, 1st is none of the rooms had double bed rather two single beds were there which were joined which was a bit uncomfortable. Secondly, in such a kind of Hotel in a place like Pelling they must provide room heater in the room and should not charge extra fees for the same.
