Nagarholae Overview
| Nagarahole is one of the best Wildlife Sanctuaries in India and is separated from Bandipur Wildlife Sanctuary by the Kabini River. Tiger, bison, and elephants are found in greater number here, as opposed to Bandipur. The name is derived from the words snake ‘nagar’ and streams ‘hole’ due to the number of streams that meander through it. The park was set up in 1955 and expanded in 1975. Formerly a favourite game resort of the Mysore Maharjas, it has a rich variety of wildlife, all in abundance. Take an elephant safaris through the jungle’s trails, or spending time by riverside, hearing the gurgling streams, and catching glimpses of a range of wildlife, including: deers, chital, panthers, pythons, cobra, bears, jackals, leopards, and tigers. The Kabini River is also quite beautiful as it makes its way through the forest. |
