Munnar is a small hill station and an idle tourist destination to Gods own country, Kerala. It is typical Indian place where there is small stalls, beauty in nature and is traditional. The exotic species of flora and fauna makes the place more exotic with wild sanctuaries and forests. The valley has the vast tea plantation which welcomes the tourist with mountain streams – Muthirapuzha, Nallathanni and Kundala. The height of Munnar varies from 1500 m to 2600m. During the time of colonial period Munnar was the summer destination for Britishers and the colonial bungalows says its history.
The best time to visit this beautiful place is during the month from August to March. To reach the place one can reach by flights, Cochin International Airport and Madurai International Airport are 110 km and 140 km from Munnar respectively; the nearest railway station is Aluvia 110 km away. There are prepaid taxis available in front of both airport and railway station. One can spent almost a week there and Munnar hotels provide the best facility to each and everyone according to their necessity.

Places near Munnar Town are Atukkad Waterfall – a waterfall in the mist of jungles, Chithirapuram – famous for its tea plantation in the world, Blossom park and Pothamedu view Point; towards Mettupatti Floriculture, Photo Point, Mattupetti Dam, Mettupatti Indo – Swiss farm, Echo Point, Elephant Arrival spot, Kundala Spot and Top Station and Salim Ali Bird Sanctuary and Kolukkumalai tea Estate.

Munnar is a great spot to spend your vacation. Though it is more of a relaxing place than adventurous, but Munnar is yet no else than any other adventurous holiday spot. Walk in the clouds- one can trek to their hearts content and enjoy the beautiful feeling when the clouds descends them, Rock climbing and rappelling, Munnar Carmelagiri Elephant park – it’s a place for elephant safari, where the elephant will take you through the deep forest and rugged hilly paths and the best part about this journey is elephant shower, boating – it is fun as one can enjoy Kashmiri Shikara in south, there are also Yoga centres, The Christ church and The High Range club. Though garment shopping much cannot be done here yet one can buy fresh tea, green tea, coffee, cashew nuts and homemade chocolates.
