I personally donÂ’t favor crowded places and Mumbai is one city which exists due to the crowd. I visit this city quite often for business purpose and if I have to stay here, I prefer staying at Imperial Palace hotel which is the only place that does not make you feel you are in Mumbai. ItÂ’s really gigantic and I can recall the royalty of the Maharajas of ancient times. You would be able to sense it right from the entrance of the hotel and continues to be marvelous till your room. The best thing I like about this hotel is the interior which is so finely carved that you would just keep on admiring this artistic creation.

First and foremost, Imperial Palace hotel is located conveniently close to the Mumbai airport. The hotel has attractive deals and offers for the corporate world looking out for best deals for conducting meetings, conferences or accommodating guests. Other than offering pickup and drop facility to the hotel and airport, the hotel offers spacious conference rooms, four boardrooms that are well equipped with audio video technology and internet connectivity and various suites like Executive suites, The Minar Suites, Presidential suites and Suites with terrace. On the recreation front, it has swimming pool, tennis court, golf-course, squash court, beauty parlor and spa. What else would a business executive expect more than this luxurious business stay and a good business conduct? Overall, Imperial Palace tops in everything, be it professionalism or luxury.

The hotel has been very artistically made but seems there has been no maintenance. The location is too far from the main city and at times the taxi/auto refuse to go .

We asked when the Imperial Palace hotel was built to the woman who checked us in, our bell hop, and the concierge. All said the hotel was built just 2 years ago. But from the state of the elevators, gym, hallways, and rooms - it seems like the hotel was built 40 to 50 years ago and is in the middle of being remodeled. The check-in process was slow and inefficient. They also asked us to pay an additional Rs. 2000/day for incidentals we did not incur. It took almost 30 minutes to check in. I have photos that I can upload of the condition of the hotel. The outside of the hotel appears to be falling apart. Broken plaster, cracked rocks, rubble all over the place. The lobby looks like it is was made during the British Empire's reign over India. Visible wires at the light fixtures, wallpaper peeling off, stains on the carpet and no towels. We had to call for maintenance because the toilet did not flush and the shower leaked water all over the bathroom.

Two years old hotel in unbelievably bad condition: walls falling apart, paint drips everywhere, dust on all horizontal surfaces, dirty bedsheets. Many nice big windows covered with dust, paint, pigeon poop - from the room you almost can't see outside. You can see that the windows are very dirty from a very big distance outside (200-500m) when looking at the building. First day the keycard wouldn't unlock the door, 2nd day the door couldn't be locked at all, waited 45 minutes for somebody to take care of the problem and then had to leave (had to take all luggage). Came back together with luggage and found the door locked too well, again two trips from 8th floor to reception to have it unlocked for the 3rd night. Electronic safe without batteries. Very long lines at reception, breakfast uneatable. No hot water at any time.
