Hotel Surya Reviews, Shimla

The hotel itself looked nice and the people there friendly. But the room was not clean and we requested it to be changed but it was not better either. The ventilator in the bathroom was not functioning thus resulting in bad smell from the bathroom. The food in this hotel was also not good which in fact made us homesick for the first time. But the hotel has a very good view, especially from the restaurant.

This hotel has a great view of Shimla, many rooms and the roof restaurant provides the desired view of the valley. Rooms are little dirty but hotel assistants can fix it. Restaurant includes continental, indian and chinese food.

Services in the hotel are excellent. We get a very good view of Shimla from the windows of the hotel. Hotel is located very close to Mall Road, main shopping spot of Shimla. Ventilation in the rooms is not good.

This was the worst hotel I had ever stayed in my life. When we reached there, there were no power supply at the hotel and we had to use stairs upto 9th floor for our room. On top of that, when we entered the room, it was not ready and the manager asked us to wait, which should not be there. The television was there in the room but there was a problem with the electrical point and also remote was not working for which I had to complaint a lot. Apart from that, there were 3 electrical points in the room but only one was working, that too can work if you hold the plug within your hand. Considering the fact that I have a baby in the room, it was very difficult to have hot water to even prepare her feed. The bed linens and towels replaced by the hotel was also quite dirty. The restaurant staff was not at all polite, as if I was staying in the hotel free of cost.

Hot water had fixed timings, and first day we missed it because no one bothered to tell us. For two nights we were freezed to death, because of no heating provided and staff said they donÂ’t provide heaters. After insisting we received only one extra blanket for family of 4.

Hotel location is perfect but it is lacking good service to a big extent. The staff of the hotel is very rude & they don't want to help you out in any condition. Makemytrip showed me 3 stars for this hotel but it certainly do not deserve more than 2 stars.

The heaters are charged extra and if you reach late in the night after 10.30 to check in, no heaters will be given. So with -6 deg cold, you are frozen meat. People are rude and do not do anything to even to try to please a guest.

Hotel staff & management is very good. Hotel is well managed and equipped with necessary infrastructure to provide comfort to their guests. Food is very good and services are excellent.

After a little confusion was rectified by the hotel staff, the overall experience of the stay was pleasant. The staff is very polite, warm and service oriented, they were very cooperative long after I checked out. The food is delectable,be it north Indian or continental. The location surely gives an edge to the hotel.

The hotel is not good as per value of money. There is electricity as well as water problem. It is not even a 2-star hotel. The hotel staff are not customer friendly. Only good thing is location as it is near to station and Mall road. One part of hotel is very bad, normally online booking customers are given room in this section.
