Highland Beach Resort, Goa

The USP of this resort has to be large - from its huge building complexes to its number of rooms to the humongous paintings that adorn the high-ceiling lobby, Highland Beach Resort spreads across 4 swimming pools, 5 phases and 280 rooms.

Large buildings painted a pale peach stand amid pleasant greenery, each building complex a 'phase'. The resort's location is excellent - in the thick of all the action at Baga and yet a little removed from the main road to give you the required peace when you return to the rooms.
Each phase is separated by criss-crossing pathways flanked with tropical greenery. Phase III has solar heaters.

The resort is in Candolim North of Goa, the beach a 10 minute walk from here. The Dabolim airport is 40 km away, while the nearest railway station is at Thivim, about 20 - 25 km away. The Candolim bus stand is a 5-minute walk from the resort. On the main Candolim-Baga road, be on a lookout for a board that points towards the resort - the sign is miss-able!

Hotel Facilities
The resorts four swimming pools are immensely inviting, large and flanked by palms. The resort's health centre houses a beauty salon, gymnasium, massage centre (Ayurvedic massages on offer) and sauna. The large and well equipped conference hall can accommodate 50 people, although you have to pay extra for the equipment.

Other facilities on offer include car rental, bike rental, sightseeing for groups, currency exchange, doctor on call, laundry service, housekeeping and taxi service.

Room Amenities
The 280 rooms are divided into Executive rooms, Ambassador rooms and Deluxe Ambassador rooms. Executive rooms are ideal for couples, while Deluxe Ambassador rooms are two-bedroom apartments complete with a spacious living room.

Executive rooms come with a living room, kitchenette (non-equipped) with dining space and a bedroom with an attached washroom. The living room has comfortable couches, television and telephone. The kitchen space has a slab for the cooker, refrigerator and a sink. The bedroom is air conditioned with a wardrobe, study table and a large mirror. The wardrobe is well supplied with hangers and a laundry basket. The living room as well as the bedroom have balconies that look over to the green and blue of the inviting swimming pool.

All the 280 rooms have balconies - the ones on the ground floor have sit-outs. During season all the guests enjoy 24-hour room service. Off season, the timing is 7 am to 10 pm.

Dining
The resort's multi cuisine restaurant looks over to the pool and serves North Indian, Chinese, Continental and Goan meals for lunch and dinner. The bar counter has dramatic frescoes on it and is well stocked. (Restaurant timings: Breakfast - 7:30 am to 10 am. Lunch: 1:30 pm to 2:30 pm. Dinner: 8 to 10:30 pm).

Gulzar is the Indian restaurant on the premises which is open only during 'season' in Goa, October onwards. The resort's coffee shop lies adjacent to the reception. It's an open space surrounded by greenery and a television in a corner.

Don't Miss!
The best part about this resort is that from everywhere in its sprawling complex, you have a glimpse of an azure pool which is surrounded by thick greenery. Pretty.
