Fort Pokaran is a 14th century citadel that stands in the Thar Desert. Pokaran means 'the place of 5 mirages'. It stands on an ancient trade route that was used to carry silk, spices and salt to Persia.

Pokaran Fort is en route both from Jodhpur to Jaislamer and Bikaner to Jaislamer. It is situated 511 kilometres from Jaipur, 440 kilometres from Udaipur, 171 kilometres from Jodhpur, 110 kilometres from Jaisalmer and 240 kilometres from Bikaner.
