Coorg Overview
Greener than green, this verdant region is redolent with the aromas of coffee and cardamom. Relatively undiscovered, and one of the most beautiful areas of Southern India, there is nothing much to ‘do’ in Coorg, but to relax in the untouched surroundings. Set in the heart of the exotic coffee-growing country, this little hill township is considered as the capital of the Coorg region. The town, which is set on a series of ridges that command breathtaking views, was an unassuming state in its own right till a few decades ago. The Friday Market at Madikeri has a surplus of articles made by the local tribal people. Shopping here could be a worthwhile experience.
