Chandigarh is one of the most beautifully planned cities in India designed by modernist architecture Le Corbusier as it serves as the first planned city in India pre Independence. Being the union territory by itself, it serves as the capital of both Punjab and Haryana. The name Chandigarh has derived from the temple of Hindu Goddess Chandi. Chandigarh which is located on the foothill of the Shivalik Range covers an area of 114 km2 and it is surrounded half districts of Punjab i.e Mohali, Patiala and Roopnagar of Punjab and Ambala and Panchkula of Haryana and the north boundary is covered by Himachal Pradesh.

The best time to visit Chandigarh is during the month of August to November and it is the time when the city’s climate is neither hot nor cold.
